Abstract

This paper describes a study which examined the effectiveness of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) over a range of weather incident and demand conditions. The three ITS components that were studied included incident management, adaptive and coordinated signal control, and advanced traveler information systems. Focus was on examining the effectiveness of these systems deployed in combination over a realistic range of variation in both roadway supply and travel demand.
