Abstract

Arc burning phenomenon of insulated rail joint at cut-off point is one of important challenges in high-speed railway (HSR) stations. In order to study this issue in specific, by utilizing MATLAB/Simulink software, the equivalent integration model of electric multiple units (EMU) running in the station traction network is established to perform simulation analysis. The actual traction power supply mode and chain model considering inductive coupling and capacitive coupling of each conductors are considered for the station traction network. The CRH380BL-type EMU is taken as an example and its grounding system is considered in detail for the EMU model. The transient process of the EMU wheel passing the insulated rail joint at cut-off point is divided into two parts, including the wheel bridges the cut-off point and leaves the cut-off point with an arc generated. The simulation analyses of each transient process and integrated process are performed, respectively. By compared with existing literatures, the effectiveness of modeling analysis is verified, and the reference for researching and solving the arc burning problem of insulated rail joints is provided.
