This research explores the emerging role of productive Waqf as a pivotal alternative to the economic sector. Focusing on Indonesia and Malaysia as the huge potential for improving the Sharī‘ah economy, Waqf is of paramount importance in developing the financial system. Both countries have distinctive characteristics and policies governing the Waqf, albeit they have not yet maximized productive Waqf as the path to building a mechanism for a sustainable economy. Thus, the research aims to delineate the challenges and opportunities inherent in developing asset empowerment as productive Waqf. It employs a qualitative-exploratory approach and proposes a governance model for productive Waqf policies with ATLAS application. The primary data was retrieved through expert-led interviews involving academics and practitioners, including the Department of Sharī‘ah and Economics at the University of Malaya and the Division of Nazir Development and Waqf Management at the Indonesian Waqf Board. The research comprehensively maps the characteristics of both countries in managing Waqf policies encompassing government, bureaucracy, legal systems, social and economic conditions, and environmental and technological factors. This research uses PESTEL (Political, Economic, Social, Technology, Environment, and Law) and SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat) analysis. The research finds that the productive Waqf is an effective governing policy model and a strategic pathway for every country to achieve sustainable economic development.

  • A Veronika Vena + 2 more

SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis is one of the common tabulation technique to evaluate internal and external environments for strategic planning and successfulness of an organization. Educational institution requires SWOT analysis to make strategic planning in order to meet accreditation requirements or well accredited and also to increase the number of raw input. There is still no particular method that related to SWOT analysis, especially in vocational school accreditation report. Furthermore, many steps have to be conducted, multiple resources involved, and time consuming processes have given impact on the accuracy of SWOT analysis report. We have developed a Fuzzy Analytic Network Process-based automatized SWOT analysis to improve the accuracy of vocational school accreditation report. The fuzzy system processed the respondent's questionnaire answers as the input, generating the SWOT quadrant, and then generated the priority of strategies based on the SWOT quadrant as the output using the FANP method. It used 8 variables as the input and 8 variables as its outputs. The data was collected through accreditation instruments issued by National School/Madrasah Accreditation Board which is used to evaluate the management system for vocational school that implements the Indonesian curriculum of 2013. The system output is compared to the data collected through the experts (certified accreditation assessor). The results showed that there was 84.78% accuracy of the system compare with expert opinion using the likert-scale on 2 sets of data test.

  • Hidenori Shinno + 2 more

The strategic importance of global competitiveness of machine tools manufacturing industry in Japan is steadily increasing and machine tools manufacturers require effective corporate strategy to achieve sustainable competitive advantages. SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis is one of the most effective approaches used for analyzing strategic management policy of an organizations. However, the use of conventional SWOT analysis is based on the qualitative analysis and has no means of determining the importance of each SWOT factor. In this study, a newly structured SWOT analysis has been proposed for weighting and rating individual SWOT factors using the pairwise comparison matrices. By the proposed method, the industrial strategy planning for the machine tools manufacturing industry can be carried out using both qualitative and quantitative analyses of the SWOT factors.

Application of Combined SWOT and AHP Analysis to Assess the Virtual Reality and Select the Priority Factors for Education
  • Jan 1, 2023
  • El Mostafa Bourhim + 1 more

Over the past decade, virtual reality (VR) technology has been increasingly used in educational settings. Its benefits and opportunities are opening up new avenues for learning. This research attempts to capture the strategic core factors involved in the evaluation of VR in education by implementing the A’WOT (AHP-SWOT) method, a combination of SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). SWOT analysis presents a comprehensive summary of important forces and challenges that are necessary for the development of VR education. However, The SWOT analysis does not have a way of measuring weights analytically and determining the importance of the components. Therefore, AHP analysis was applied to quantify and rank the factors that affect the functioning of the system. The proposed framework analysis allows the priorities of the factors contained in the SWOT analysis to be accurately and analytically determined and measurable.

Integration of SWOT analysis with hybrid modified TOPSIS for the lean strategy evaluation
  • Sep 8, 2016
  • Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture
  • Suresh Prasad + 2 more

This article deals with the lean strategy evaluation process using SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis aimed at identifying lean strategies and providing an initial decision framework. It involves specifying the objective of the industry and identification of internal and external factors and its sub-factors and lean strategies, which are either favourable or unfavourable in the accomplishment of the stated objective. However, the SWOT analysis method does not provide an analytical method to evaluate the priorities of identified decisive strategic factors. To overcome this limitation, this article presents a case study in an Indian foundry industry using two multiple criteria decision-making methods, that is, analytic network process and modified TOPSIS (technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution), to provide a computable basis in determining the rank of lean strategies. In this approach, the analytic network process is used to calculate the priorities of identified SWOT factors and sub-factors and the modified TOPSIS is applied to rank the lean strategies. A sensitivity analysis is also provided to illustrate how ‘sensitive’ the proposed model is to changes in the priorities of SWOT factors. The results show that the quantitative SWOT analysis–based approach is a feasible and exceedingly capable method that provides vital sensitivity in evaluating the priorities of lean strategies for an Indian foundry industry and can also be employed as an effective method for many other complex decision-making processes.

  • TEXILA INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT
  • Jubert Twambo

This study’s main purpose was to assess how well Zambian Breweries analysed business performance using SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) and PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental) analytical approaches. The methodology involved the distribution of a survey through the Google Forms platform, to which 17 respondents answered, and the collection of data utilising that survey. The results of the study were generated by the Google platforms based on the respondents’ responses. According to the study’s findings, Zambian Breweries occasionally performed SWOT and PESTLE analyses to assess the internal and external environments of the business and to assist in decision-making. The study further shows that managers at Zambian Breweries use SWOT and PESTLE analyses to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of significant choices. SWOT and PESTLE assessments can be employed for both large and small projects, to make decisions on marketing campaigns, organisational changes, the adoption of new production methods, and the introduction of new products. The analysis phase involves gathering employee viewpoints, which enhances project understanding, acceptance, and execution. To understand how a company is operating, it is essential to understand its SWOT and PESTLE analyses. In order to build strategic strategies, businesses must perform comprehensive study, which calls for the SWOT and PESTLE studies. An internal environment study and competitive advantage identification are common goals of a SWOT analysis. PESTLE analysis can be used to look at the external factors that affect the business environment. Keywords: Analysis, PESTLE, SWOT, Strategy, Strategic Management.

Assessing the Priorities Using A'WOT Among Resource Management Strategies at the Finnish Forest and Park Service
  • Nov 1, 2001
  • Forest Science
  • Mauno Pesonen + 4 more

We examined a hybrid method, referred to here as the A'WOT [Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in SWOT analysis], for improving the usability of SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis. A commonly used decision analysis method, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and its eigenvalue calculation framework are integrated with SWOT analysis. The connection of AHP with SWOT yields analytically determined and quantifiable priorities for the factors included in SWOT analysis. The aim in applying the hybrid method is to improve the quantitative basis of strategic planning processes. After applying the A'WOT method, decision-makers have information at their disposal about how alternative strategies are congruent with internal and external environmental factors. In a decision–making process, this information can be utilized in concert with other produced decision–support elements. The A'WOT was used in connection with the strategic planning of natural resource management at the Finnish Forest and Park Service (FFPS). Four alternative strategies were produced during the planning process. The alternatives produced were Forestry Strategy (emphasis on sustainable economic use of forests); Recreation Strategy (emphasis on recreational use of forests and social and economic sustainability); Protection Strategy (emphasis on nature protection and ecological sustainability); and the Basic Strategy (current land allocation and forestry practice principles). Opportunities determined by the priorities of the scaling factors had the greatest weight in all the business units of the FFPS. The most important internal factors included both strengths (know–how, land, and water property ) along with a couple of weaknesses (lack of information concerning biodiversity due to insufficient planning resources, age, and development class structures of forests). • International Journal of Innovation Science
  • Abhishek Kumar + 3 more

PurposeThis SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis was conducted to have a portrait of the competitiveness of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on the global map. Being a 75-year-old scientific organization, CSIR has raised each and every laboratory with a specific mandate and competency. It is definite that the organization would get some assistance from these points, which are briefly stated, as the institutional data reside with the laboratory only. To some extent, they can be considered on their discretion; however, the organization has raised its position to international standards, but still it can consider few areas/suggestions from this analysis. These points are suggestive and flexible in nature, which are identified and defined to elevate this organization on the globe. Scientific publications do make a difference, but on the ground, if the technologies are not viable and received by public, it makes no difference. Today, India is fortunate to have a Prime Minister like Mr Modi, who always re-evaluates the issues and solutions so that the country moves from developing to a fast-pace developed nation. It is a fact that if these research organizations reorganize themselves and prioritize the research problems, they are capable enough to become a pioneer among the world R&D industry. This paper aims to analyze the organization and suggest few points with significant findings which can assist in scaling toward excellence on a global scale.Design/methodology/approachOn the basis of random sampling, laboratories were identified where their achievements and contribution toward industry and society were evaluated. On the basis of their setup, the organization and laboratories were evaluated to frame-out a SWOT analysis.FindingsSWOT analysis is a deliberate technique carried out to analyze the current situation of the system and to analyze the internal and external environment, which provides and edge to the organization to sustain. The major factors assessed were manpower, machines, money and funding, and achievements and deliverables were studied.Originality/valueThe research, i.e. SWOT, is unique in nature, as it was not carried out earlier on such a scale. To some extent, the points suggested in SWOT and conclusion can be considered on their discretion; however, the organization has raised its position to international standards, but still it can consider few areas/suggestions from this analysis. These points are suggestive and flexible in nature, which are identified and defined to elevate this organization on the globe.
