Abstract

Processing of wood waste produced in sawmills and of timber which is too small for woodworking purposes is an important activity of primary timber industry in Slovenia, both from economical and ecological points of view (manufacture of particle boards and fiberboards, pulp production). The economic aspect of wood waste processing concerns the need for efficient operation of processing facilities above a profitability threshold. And the ecological aspect refers to ecological soundness of products and the environmental strain produced by processing technologies and resulting products. Closing down of non-profitable wood waste processing facilities, on the other hand, would only lead to additional problems connected with transportation and processing. The optimization model discussed in the following approaches the problems of wood waste processing from the above perspective.KeywordsPurchase PriceProcessing FacilityWood WastePrimary MaterialEnvironmental StrainThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
