Abstract
In digital communication systems a knowledge of the transmission error statistics is necessary in the design of appropriate error control procedures, such as retransmission protocols or error-correcting codes. The probability of occurrence of different error patterns has been measured for a TFM (tamed frequency modulation) demodulator subject to additive white Gaussian noise. Good agreement is obtained with a theoretical model of the error generation process.
