Abstract

In this paper, we study a mobility-aware adaptive transmission between two mobile nodes in the mobile ad-hoc network. We model the amount of data that can be transmitted between two mobile nodes in a single encounter as a function of the start time of the transmission. From this model, we show that there exists a tradeoff between the data rate and the time duration for the transmission through the start time of the transmission. Hence, it is important to have the optimal start time of the transmission to maximize the amount of data that can be transmitted between two mobile nodes. In this paper, we obtain the optimal start time and show that in general, the optimal start time depends on the mobilities (i.e., velocities) of two mobile nodes.
