Abstract

Abstract Three miticides were evaluated for control of the pecan leaf scorch mite (PLSM) on pecan. The study was conducted on 52-yr-old ‘Stuart’ pecan trees located at the LSU Pecan Research-Extension Station, Robson, La. Plots were arranged in a randomized complete block design consisting of 2 blocks, with 1 tree per treatment per block. Pretreatment counts were made on 26 Aug using an FMC 957 speedsprayer delivering 27 gal of finished spray per tree (247 gal per acre). Posttreatment counts were made at 3, 7, 14, and 21 days after treatment. Samples consisted of counting the number of mites and eggs on the apical pair of leaflets on 10 compound leaves.
