Abstract

The Silurian of Ouled Abbou (coastal Meseta) consists of volcano-sedimentary deposits overlaying a silicoclastic formation which is characterised by sedimentary gap at Ashgill. The volcanism, of alkaline nature, is associated with unstable platform deposits involving a distensive sit up subsequent to a crustal uplift. This intumescence at the origin of the Ashgillian gap is generated by a mantellic advection inducing an epizonal metamorphism dated to 447 ±12 My.
