Abstract

This work presents a mathematical model for the strategic planning of the diseases caused by mosquitoes in a given geographic location. The proposed model incorporates the modeling of the transmission diseases by mosquitoes, and to control this problem, there is proposed the incorporation of a dosing chemical to kill the mosquitoes considering the best period and location for this process, as well as incorporating the optimal selection of the used chemical. The main idea is to control the associated problem at the minimum cost. A case study from the central west part of Mexico is presented, where this problem represents several infected people every year. The results show that it is possible to mitigate the diseases in a given region with low investment through the proper fumigation planning and scheduling. The proposed model is general, and this can be applied to different locations with the proper data.
