Abstract
This literature presents a new fractal dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) for Ultra-wideband (UWB) application. The antenna is realized by placing a Minkowski fractal dielectric resonator over a planar rectangular-shaped monopole. Coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed structure with modification is used for excitation. The CPW can integrate easily and provide better impedance matching. By etching a fractal parasitic strip at the backplane of the antenna the bandwidth is enhanced at a lower frequency range. The modal analysis has been done to illustrate how the antenna accomplishes the UWB characteristics. The dimension of the antenna is ( $15\times 38.5\times 5.073\text{mm}^{3}$ ) and radiates from 3.14 to 10.896 GHz with a percentage bandwidth of 110.5%. The projected antenna has a good quality omnidirectional radiation pattern, constant gain, high-radiation effectiveness, and low cross-polarization inside the working frequency range and the simulated results exhibit that the proposed antenna is an excellent contender for UWB applications.
