Abstract

The MINEQUA computer program written in BASIC for a desk calculator is intended for use by designers of technological facilities (e.g. heating plants) that exploit hydrothermal systems. It allows them to model variations in the calcium carbonate chemistry of mineralized waters with respect to pressure and temperature variations, separation or reabsorption of carbon dioxide-containing dissolved gases. Studies of optimum extraction regime and technology of thermal utilization and water reinjection can be conducted with the aid of the program with respect to water treatment, in order to prevent the formation of scale deposits, the corrosion of the technological equipment or the clogging of pores in the rocks adjacent to the reinjection wells. The paper describes a method for computing pressure corrections to the equilibrium constants of chemical reactions and the solubility coefficients of minerals.
