Abstract

Abstract This article outlines the achievements of a mine safety and health institutional development project in China funded by the United Nations Development Program and managed by the International Labor Office. The objective was to strengthen the ability of the National Safety Training Center to train more than 2000 engineers per year and to provide consulting and information services to 39 safety training centers and coal mines. The status of mine safety in China is also reviewed.
