Abstract

This paper presents some latest developments in microwave transversal and recursive-filter based negative group delay circuits as well as their potential applications in realizing non-Foster elements. By using transversal and recursive-filter approaches, the desired amount of negative group delay can be synthesized with an increased bandwidth. The fully distributed topology of the proposed negative group delay circuits makes it feasible to be further scaled up to higher frequency ranges such as millimeter waves. In addition, it is shown that the proposed transversal-filter based negative group delay circuit is able to create non-Foster elements exhibiting unconditional stability, enabling a new perspective of realizing non-Foster elements.
