Abstract

In this paper, we build an improved model of microwave scattering for two dimensional fractal sea water. Based on the double Debye dielectric model, both the geometrical fractal characteristic and permittivity characteristic of sea water is more strictly considered. In our model, the effect of salinity and temperature on the microwave scattering by sea water is added on precisely. Finally, the calculated results from our model agree with experimental results in terms of backscattering coefficient of sea water with no more than 2dB error, which present higher precision than the model based on the single Debye dielectric model and other traditional models. Therefore, using this model, we can obtain the whole microwave scattering characteristic of sea water.
