Abstract

• Li 2 O were added into ZnO–TiO 2 system to form Li 2 ZnTi 3 O 8 ceramics. • CuO–Bi 2 O 3 –V 2 O 5 addition could reduce the sintering temperature from 1150 to 900 °C. • The influence of CuO–Bi 2 O 3 –V 2 O 5 on microwave properties was investigated. The low-fired Li 2 ZnTi 3 O 8 microwave ceramics have been prepared by the conventional solid-state ceramic route. The effect of CuO–V 2 O 5 –Bi 2 O 3 addition on the sinterability, microstructure, and microwave dielectric properties of Li 2 ZnTi 3 O 8 dielectric ceramics has been investigated. It is demonstrated that the addition of low-melting CuO–V 2 O 5 –Bi 2 O 3 can promote the densification of ceramics through liquid-phase sintering and lower the sintering temperature of Li 2 ZnTi 3 O 8 ceramics from 1150 to 875 °C. The dense 0.25 wt%CuO–1.5 wt%Bi 2 O 3 –( x = 1.5) wt%V 2 O 5 doped Li 2 ZnTi 3 O 8 ceramics prepared at 875 °C have excellent dielectric properties of ε r = 25.63, Q × f = 53,400 GHz and τ f = −5.27 ppm/°C.
