Abstract

The effects of Li2WO4 addition on phase composition, microstructure and dielectric properties of Li2ZnTi3O8–TiO2 (LZT) composite ceramics have been investigated. It was found that a small amount of LW additives could effectively lower the sintering temperature of LZT ceramics from 1,160 to 860 °C without a serious degradation of the microwave dielectric properties. Dense Li2WO4-doped LZT samples of a relative sintered density over 96 % could be prepared even at 840 °C. With increasing Li2WO4 addition up to 4 wt%, both of the er and τ f were slightly decreased, while the Q × f was increased firstly, then reached the maximum, and finally declined with the additive further increased. Typically, 2.0 wt% Li2WO4 added LZT ceramic sintered at 860 °C for 4 h exhibited good microwave dielectric properties of er = 27.1, Q × f = 51,123 GHz and τ f = −3.8 ppm/°C, which made it promising for low temperature co-fired ceramics technology application.
