Abstract

This paper presents a method of reactive power compensation, using a microprocessor controlled thyrister switching of capacitor banks. The microprocessor provides the necessary timing of the switching process to avoid harmful supply transients and permits levels of compensation in each cycle. The hardware and software used for the system is described.
