Abstract

A micromechanics model was developed to predict the effective time-dependent and non-linear multiphysics responses of metal core piezoelectric fiber reinforced polymer matrix composites. The present model is established on the basis of variational asymptotic method and implemented using finite element method. In light of the time-dependent and non-linear characteristics of composites, an incremental procedure in conjunction with an instantaneous electromechanical matrix of composites was established. The proposed model can be readily used to simulate the effects of multiphysics loadings on the behavior of metal core piezoelectric fiber reinforced polymer matrix composites.
