Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of 23G vitrectomy for vitreous hemorrhage caused by polypoidal ehoroidal vasculopathy(PCV). Methods The clinical data of 21 eyes of 21 patients who were diagnosed as vitreous hemorrhage caused by PCV and underwent 23G vitrectomy between January 2012 and December 2013 in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The visual acuity (VA) and surgical complications were observed. Results The BCVA was improved in 15 eyes (71.4%) at one month after surgery. The proportion of patients whose VA better than 0.05 was 9.5% before surgery and 38.1% after surgery, and the difference was statistically significant(x^2 =4. 72 ,P 〈0.05). Among 21 eyes, 9 eyes were given silicon oil tamponade, 4 eyes were given C3 F8 tamponade and 8 eyes with no tamponade. The most common complications were hyphema and hyphema-related high intraocular pressure (IOP). Conclusion 23G vetrectomy is effective for the treatment of vitreous hemorrhage in PCV patient which can improve the patients' vision and provide a good condition for further treatment.
