Abstract

Due to the differences between microgrid and traditional grid in operation mode and network topology, a new protection principle adapted to the characteristics of the microgrid is necessary to be proposed. Adaptive protection can effectively solve the above problems because of the real-time characteristics. The real-time nature of adaptive protection is suitable for this problem. Firstly, analyze the problems existing in the original adaptive current fast-break protection principle, and improve the principle. Second, according to the improved principle of improvement, discuss the setting of protection in case of three-phase short circuit and two-phase short circuit faults. Then, PSCAD is used to model and simulate the typical micro-grid. The results of the example verify that the protection can correct the errors of the original principle under certain circumstances more stably and accurately.
