Models of cancer postulated that somatic mutations in cancer cells were responsible for cancer cell progression Fearon, et al [1]
We know that such genetic changes in the tumor cells cannot on their own account for the rapid tumour progression from local invasion to metastasis seen in cancer Taddei, et al [2]
While there is a huge body of literature focused on understanding the genetic and epigenetic changes that enable and drive cancer progression, existing models are highly diverse and focused on individual pieces of the puzzle
