Abstract

When determining blank values in the modified Van Slyke method for the microdetermination of the primary amino group, it is recommended that several readings at 5 minute intervals be taken before the addition of the sodium nitrite solution and then the readings be continued for the length of time of the determination of the sample. Constant increments in nitrometer readings indicate complete removal of the nitric oxide and the efficacy of the absorbers. Depletion of the absorbers can easily be checked by this method.
