Abstract

One could not come away from a conversation with Michel Lavoipierre without knowing that he was an extraordinary person. He was truly a Renaissance man, a rara avis in an age of stifling overspecialization. He was most notably a gentle and loyal man, faithful to his religion, devoted to his children and students, and steadfast in his pursuit of scientific truth.
