Abstract

This work develops two metrics to help quantify the performance of a cognitive radar system; they are the combined cumulative squared deviation (CCSD) and the cumulative coherent processing interval (CCPI). The cognitive system is based on the fully adaptive radar (FAR) framework for cognition. Simulated and experimental results are provided for a single target tracking case where the pulse repetition frequency and number of pulses are adjusted to maintain tracker performance. The CCSD and CCPI are used to compare the simulated and experimental results for three different parameter selection methods as well as static parameter cases.
