Abstract

AbstractThe aim of the study is to develop, test, and refine a statistically reliable method for assessing the severity of the condition of premature newborns with a gestation period of fewer than 30 weeks at birth based on a multivariate statistical analysis of the data. The model of binary logistic regression was taken as a basis. Based on the available sample of precedents, a statistically reliable decision rule has been developed, on the basis of which a method for recognizing the severity of the condition of new patients can be developed. As an assessment of the severity of the newborn, the probability of its assignment to the corresponding group of patients was used. The results on the test sample of data showed high statistical reliability of the classification of patients. This allows us to use the proposed method to assess the health status of premature newborns and timely provide the necessary complex medical manipulations.KeywordsPreterm infantsForecastModelLogistic regressionDiscriminant analysisClassification
