Abstract

A method and an algorithm of lossless compression of synthetic images have been developed on the basis of a multistage search for sets of similar fragments and the description of repeating fragments with reference to the original fragment. The algorithm is applicable to images obtained artificially, such as map images, schemes, drawings, etc., that have a relatively small number of colors in the palette. The algorithm has demonstrated its efficiency in this class of images as compared to other methods of lossless compression.
