Abstract

Large three‐dimensional neoplastic cell aggregates and psammoma bodies are rare in metastatic small cell carcinoma and could represent a diagnostic pitfall, given their more frequent associations with adenocarcinoma. Careful attention to other classic cytomorphologic features is cardinal to the diagnosis of small cell carcinoma.
