Abstract

The corner fracture of the metaphyses of long bones of infants is considered pathognomonic of the battered child syndrome. In some cases, however, the fracture may occur as a result of weakening by an underlying disease process. This review emphasizes the importance of distinguishing healthy from abnormal bone in such injuries.
