Abstract

The recent progress of metallic glassy thin films (MGTFs) in mechanical, magnetic, biomedical, and optical fields is briefly summarized. The key factors that control the mechanical behavior of MGTFs are outlined on the basis of recent theoretical and experimental works. Special MGTFs with enhanced mechanical property like nano‐structured MGTFs, multi‐layer MGTFs, and ultra‐stable MGTFs are introduced in detail. The magnetic anisotropy and magnetic impedance (MI) effect of MGTFs are discussed. In addition, MGTFs are recently found playing an important role in some new areas, for example, for biomedical and optical components. The availability of two‐dimensional MGTFs stimulates comprehensive studies in those fields, which enhance the understanding of the correlation of structure and their mechanical, magnetic, biomedical, and optical properties, and develop the designing strategy for engineers.
