Abstract

The aim of this work is to give potential aerospace users of metal matrix composites some suggestions on how to select the proper material, primary, and secondary production process to realize a prescribed high performance structural component; this is done in the form of a presentation of some fabrication processes which may fit the requirements for different aerospace applications (structure fitting, conrod for control surface, air inlet ramp structure for hypersonic vehicle, helicopter swash plate, turbine rotor disk), including considerations of the technical and cost analysis modelling and the optimization of these processes.
