Abstract
The objective of this study is to analyze the in vivo acute and systemic toxicity of metal-free poly(tBGE-alt-PA) copolymer nanomaterial on a pilot level. Previously, we reported that the poly(tBGE-alt-PA) copolymer is biocompatible, biodegradable, and hemocompatible nature and has been used as a novel tumor-targeting drug delivery vehicle. In the present study, we examined its acute toxicity via histopathological, hematological, and serum biochemical parameter analysis. The systemic toxicity was also analyzed by a change in the average body weight of injected mice. In results, we did not observe any significant changes during different blood and serum biochemical parameters and no adverse pathophysiological changes such as necrosis, inflammation, fibrosis etc. were seen in different tissues. Furthermore, no significant changes in average body weight were observed. Based on these results, we report for the first time that the metal-free poly(tBGE-alt-PA) copolymer nanomaterial can be used for potential clinical applications.
