Abstract
1. 1. The fate of [1- 14C]palmitic acid injected into honeybee workers was monitored over the course of metamorphosis. 2. 2. The palmitic acid was recovered from the phospholipid mono-, di- and triglyceride, steriod, free fatty acid and cholesterol ester compartments. 3. 3. Triglycerides constitute the main source of fatty acids used for catabolic and anabolic reactions during honeybee worker development.
