Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between maximum sterile barrier and central venous catheter related bloodstream infection.Methods Meta analysis was used to study and analyze the effect of maximum sterile barrier to prevent central venous catheter related bloodstream infection in ICU or cancer patients.Results Data of 8 case studies were included in this research according to the standard.Random effect model was chosen according to the heterogeneity inspection level (α =0.1),and the results showed that maximum sterile barrier can reduce the rate of central venous catheter related bloodstream infection (OR =0.35,95% CI=0.24-0.53 ;P <0.01).Conclusions Maximum sterile barrier can reduce the rate of central venous catheter related bloodstream infection and be used as an important measure to prevent catheter-related bloodstream infection.
