Abstract
Acute type A dissection is an aortic emergency that typically requires emergent surgical intervention.1,2 Although the in-hospital mortality has decreased steadily due to advances in diagnosis and management, subgroups with ischemic burden remain at high risk for mortality in the presentation spectrum of this acute aortic syndrome, as classified by the Penn classification (refer to Table 1).3,4
