Abstract

Alms is one of the flexible and universal instruments of Islamic finance. It cannot be outlined and determined to whom to give and what form of alms is most suitable. Indeed, alms can be given in any form, to whom they are desired and can be carried out at anytime and anywhere. Alms is also one of the most demanded worships in Islam. This is clearly evidenced by the existence of verses of the Quran and hadiths that speak of the advantages of those who do alms. Alms is also a key indicator in the concept of al-Falah of Islamic entrepreneurship as applied by the Prophet PBUH and his companions. Thus, this study is aimed at revealing the veil of alms culture as one of the approaches in the concept of al-Falah Islamic entrepreneurship today. This study uses the method of analyzing documents by looking at the verses of the Quran and hadiths as well as past studies related to the concept of alms in the scope of Islamic entrepreneurship. The findings of the study found six forms of alms that have been used by Islam such as saying tasbih, tahlil and tahmid, doing good deeds and preventing disobedience, saying hello, working and providing nafkah to the family, easing the burden of others and visiting the sick. This study also discussed the priorities of those who are entitled to receive alms as well as the wisdom and advantages of those who give alms. Therefore, the cultural relationship of alms is very close to the concept of al-Falah in Islamic entrepreneurship and should be applied by every Muslim entrepreneur.
