Abstract

A sixty-one-year-old female’s husband suffers a traumatic brain injury (TBI) during a car accident two years prior. The TBI causes a permanent personality change in the husband. Client endures problematic grief after the “death” of her husband’s previous personality; symptoms like anger, restlessness, and detachment are present. Client and I begin work on that grief through a series of 45-minute, weekly in-office sessions. With this third session, I introduce the narrative concept of memoir writing.
