Abstract
In this research that was performed to determine the effects of Zekâi Dede and his maqam understanding on maqam education, document analysis and interviewmethods have been used as conforming to situation fixation in qualitative research model. Maqam understanding of Zekâi Dede has been set forth through the theoretical interpretation of the data obtained as the result of the analyses. It was seen that Zekâi Dede’s works constitute an important resource in order to complete the missing or inaccurate parts of the theoretical knowledge. The views and applications of five specialists composing the study group due to semi-structured negotiation method that was applied at the research were benefited and findings about how to make use of the maqam analysesof Zekâi Dede’s bestes in the maqam Acem has been obtained. In accordance with the findings, it has been determined that this research will enlighten unclear aspects of maqam understanding, maqam and seyir (melodic progression) concepts inZekâi Dede’s bestes in the maqam Acem, and also it will be benefitial to understand maqam processing and defining ways in his works
