Abstract

Coumarin is a versatile scaffold with outstanding biological potential and played a key role in the field of medicine. The benzopyran-2-one ring bearing heterocycles are known for antimicrobial, anti-cancer, and antioxidant activities. This review article provides the recent clinical significance reports of coumarin and coumarin-fused heterocycles. Further, this review focus on the key feature of coumarin derivatives like antimicrobial, antimalarial, anti-HIV, anti-cancer, anti-tubercular, and antioxidant activities. The above activities make this molecule a more fascinating scaffold for the invention of new novel analogs.
