Background: Location decision plays a key role in strategic logistics and business success. The beauty business in Thailand has continuously grown, and medical aesthetics clinic location is one of the critical factors for business success. The problem is also related to sustainable urban service accessibility. Methods: This paper presents, for the first time, a systematic selection of medical aesthetics clinic location as a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem. The Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) and Single-Valued Neutrosophic TOPSIS (SVN-TOPSIS) are combined to solve the location selection problem. SMART determines criterion weights, whereas SVN-TOPSIS evaluates alternatives using linguistic terms understandable to non-technical decision makers. Results: The proposed SMART SVN-TOPSIS is applied to a real investment problem in which two investors select the best clinic location from five alternatives with nine criteria. Siam Square—the heart of shopping, fashion, and youth culture in Bangkok—is recommended as the top location. Conclusions: The results indicate that the proposed method is capable of generating a consistent ranking of alternatives and differentiating between locations that exhibit similar evaluation characteristics. The findings may also support sustainable urban service planning and healthcare-related facility location decisions.

Each organization must collect data as a result of the use of information technology. Over time the data is processed into information. The information collected is used as a basis for decision making. But not all information can be directly used for the decision making process. Necessary methods and weighting in the process of getting information. One model in a decision support system is Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM). The MCDM model makes it possible to provide the best choice of information from several choices of the many criteria and alternatives used. This study compares the MCDM model, namely the ELECTRE (Elimination Et Choix Traduisant la Realite) method, SMART (Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique), ARAS (Additive Ratio Assessment) as a priority determination for the handling of areas affected by natural disasters which must be addressed first in the RENAKSI (Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Action Planning), in this case earthquake natural disasters. The ELECTRE method has a different algorithmic process than SMART and ARAS. The validation test method ELECTRE, SMART and ARAS against dataset occurrence of the earthquake is become the results of this research. Spearman rank correlation values ​​for the three methods amounted to 0.96. And another correlation method value of 0.85 for the ARAS method and 0.82 for the ELECTRE and SMART methods.

Using SMART Method for Multi-criteria Decision Making: Applications, Advantages, and Limitations

The applications of multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques are numerous. Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) is a popular method for addressing MCDM problems with several criteria. The research investigates the SMART approach discussing how it is used, and its benefits and drawbacks, in decision-making situations. It looks at how it can be applied in choosing technology, improving healthcare systems, and managing the environment. SMART simplifies decision-making by comparing options based on factors. Yet it also has drawbacks such as biases in assigning weights and may not fully address the intricacies of certain decisions. The goal of the study is to enhance comprehension of SMART advocate for its use and propose combining it with intricate decision frameworks. Even though the SMART method is now widely used there is a lack of a thorough understanding of the method to identify its various applications. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive guide and a thorough overview of the SMART method to aid in decision-making and ranking in multi-attribute scenarios. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membuat rumusan penilaian dan pemilihan suksesor bisnis berdasarkan kriteria yang objektif untuk mendukung proses suksesi bisnis di perusahaan yang bergerak dibidang distribusi produk farmasi dan alat kesehatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik studi kepustakaan, wawancara mendalam, penyebaran kuesioner dan triangulasi data dari tiga narasumber yang juga menjadi responden penilai calon suksesor. Kriteria penilaian kandidat ditetapkan berdasarkan teori ACE-MAN (Acceptable, Charismatic, Energetic, Managing, Achieving dan Networking). Rumusan penilaian kandidat dianalisis dengan metode kualitatif dan diolah dengan bantuan metode Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) untuk mencari kandidat terbaik dengan skor penilaian tertinggi berdasarkan kriteria ACE-MAN. Hasil dari penelitian yang dilakukan adalah perusahaan telah mulai merencanakan proses suksesi bisnis. Terdapat satu orang kandidat yang memperoleh hasil penilaian tertinggi dari tiga orang penilai setelah diolah dengan metode SMART berdasarkan kriteria ACE-MAN dan juga dapat memenuhi nilai-nilai budaya keluarga yang diterapkan di perusahaan

Application Maintenance Offshoring Using HCI Based Framework and Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique (SMART)

Over the last two decades, the rapid expansion of the Internet has prompted a growing number of enterprises to deploy their work globally. Companies are increasingly reliant on software systems, which need ongoing modification, maintenance, and upgrades. The maintenance phase consumes approximately 80% of the total software budget. Therefore, these businesses need to efficiently manage their software maintenance efforts and expenses. Hence, companies have been eagerly looking for offshore outsourcing of these software systems. Choosing the best sourcing model for software maintenance projects remains elusive and challenging due to a variety of technological, social, and political factors. This study aims to analyze application maintenance offshoring related factors and addresses its decision-making process. To achieve the study objectives, factors of two datasets are analyzed based on standard deviation, mean and mean error. The Critical Success Factors (CSFs) are examined thoroughly to explore their impact on decision-making process. Additionally, the study proposes a sourcing framework based on CSFs that uses the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) principles. This framework assists clients and vendors to evaluate the projects prior to offshoring decisions. To enhance decision-making process, a case study is conducted in the IT industry and the Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) is applied. As the results show, SMART ranks the available options and helps in making effective offshoring decisions.

Determining the location to establish a new business is a critical stage in the business planning process. The right decision in choosing a location can have a significant impact on the success and continuity of the business. The location of a new business has many factors to consider, but there are some problems that entrepreneurs often face in this process. One is the limitation of accurate and up-to-date information about local market conditions, infrastructure, and business regulations in the location under consideration. The lack of comprehensive data can make decision-making less accurate and potentially lead to errors in assessing market potential as well as environmental and social risks. Determining the location of a new business using Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) involves a series of structured and measurable steps. Application of the SMART method to identify and assess various attributes that are relevant and have an impact on business success, as well as to investigate the advantages of the SMART method in providing an objective and measurable approach to the decision-making process, as well as to test the effectiveness of this method in reducing risk and increasing the chances of success in establishing new ventures. The data from alternative ranking provides recommendations for determining the location of new businesses with the results of rank 1 with a value of 0.7583 obtained by CH Village, rank 2 with a value of 0.6167 obtained by ST Village, and rank 3 with a value of 0.4625 obtained by DR Village.

Strategic location selection is a crucial factor in the success of business expansion, including in the education sector such as tutoring institutions. AlphaKids Generation, as a growing tutoring center, requires an objective and structured system to determine new branch locations. This study aims to design a decision support system based on the Rank Order Centroid (ROC) and Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) methods to assist the location selection process. The ROC method is used to determine the weight of criteria based on their priority, while the SMART method evaluates location alternatives based on performance scores and assigned weights. The system was developed using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) approach and implemented on a web-based platform. The results show that location A5 (Jl. Karya Jaya) is the best alternative, achieving the highest score of 1.000. This system supports decision-makers in selecting the most appropriate location through a quantitative and objective analysis.

Selection Platform Music Service Cloud with Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique – User Service Application (SMART ALP)

SMART is a popular Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method that helps make accurate decisions to solve problems and choose the best decision using a linear additive model to generate values ​​for various alternatives. The SMART ALP used in this study is a development of the SMART method by providing three additional dimensions, application, service, and user, to emphasize the correlation with the corridors of the cloud music service platform. The object of research: (1) Apple Music, (2) Deezer, (3) iHeartRadio, (4) JOOX, (5) Melon, (6) NetEase Cloud Music, (7) Qobuz, (8) SoundCloud, (9) Spotify, (10) Tidal, (11) TuneIn, and (12) YouTube Music. Convenience criteria and playlist management with 60.4% (29 of 48 respondents) and 58.3% (28 of 48 respondents) responses, respectively. Performance criteria and simplicity with 66.7% (32 of 48 respondents) and 68.8% (33 of 48 respondents) responses, respectively. Music quality criteria with an answer of 93.8% (45 out of 48 respondents). The study results show that Spotify, YouTube Music, Joox, Apple Music, and SoundCloud are the five best cloud music service platforms with a total score of 8422 points, respectively, YouTube Music 6483 points, and Joox 3824 points, Apple Music 2039 points, and SoundCloud 1275. Points.

Decision Support by Interval SMART/SWING—Incorporating Imprecision in the SMART and SWING Methods

ABSTRACTInterval judgments are a way of handling preferential and informational imprecision in multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA). In this article, we study the use of intervals in the simple multiattribute rating technique (SMART) and SWING weighting methods. We generalize the methods by allowing the reference attribute to be any attribute, not just the most or the least important one, and by allowing the decision maker to reply with intervals to the weight ratio questions to account for his/her judgmental imprecision. We also study the practical and procedural implications of using imprecision intervals in these methods. These include, for example, how to select the reference attribute to identify as many dominated alternatives as possible. Based on the results of a simulation study, we suggest guidelines for how to carry out the weighting process in practice. Computer support can be used to make the process visual and interactive. We describe the WINPRE software for interval SMART/SWING, preference assessment by imprecise ratio statements (PAIRS), and preference programming. The use of interval SMART/SWING is illustrated by a job selection example.

Evaluation and selection of supplier in supply chain with fuzzy analytical network process approach

One of the most important issues concerning the designing a supply chain is selecting the supplier. Selecting proper suppliers is one of the most crucial activities of an organization towards the gradual improvement and a promotion in performance. This intricacy is because suppliers fulfil a part of customer’s expectancy and selecting among them is multi-criteria decision, which needs a systematic and organized approach without which this decision may lead to failure. The purpose of this research is proposing a new method for assessment and rating the suppliers. We have identified several evaluation criteria and attributes; the selection among them was by the Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) method, then we have specified the connection and the influence of the criteria on each other by DEMATEL method. After that, suppliers were graded by using the Fuzzy Analytical Network Process (FANP) approach and the most efficient one was selected. The innovation of this research is combining the SMART method, DEMATEL method, and Analytical Network Process in Fuzzy state which lead to more exact and efficient results which is proposed for the first time by the researchers of this study.

Indonesia’s Manufacturing Industry, encompassing processing and non-oil and gas processing, grew in Q3 of 2022, contributing 17.88% and 16.10% to GDP. Transportation and storage played a significant part, with a 15.93% year-on-year growth in Q1 2023, highlighting the sector’s importance. PT. PPT is a sub-holding of one of Indonesia’s companies. The company manages to trade PP/PE significantly from more sources (import, local producer, or local trader). This research will determine and analyze the criteria for the selection of warehouse locations for PT. PPT analyzes the weight of each criterion at each location in the warehouse location selection process for PT. PPT and obtain the priority location for PT. PPT to build a new warehouse. This research aims to guide and help the decision makers to choose and find a suitable location based on the Centre of Gravity (CoG) analysis conducted by a third-party consultant. The five locations resulting from the Centre of Gravity (CoG) as alternatives will be analysed with Kepner-Tregoe Analysis in the decision-making process, using Situation Appraisal defined in Business Issues. The author then employs a Rich Picture and Fishbone Diagram to assess the scenario or the process of select the new warehouse. The decision analysis was carried out in eight stages using the one of Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method, which is the Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART). Lastly, using the preceding analysis, undertake a Potential Problem Analysis. The major criterion is the distance to the customer, which aligns with the company’s emphasis on customer satisfaction. Demand growth affects warehouse capacity, with more growth necessitating a larger facility. Distance from suppliers reduces delivery lead time, and the size of the land must accommodate demand growth and product capacity for PT. PPT.

EVALUATING A COMPUTER APPLICATION THAT AIDS MULTI-CRITERIA DECISION MAKING

In this article, we describe and assess the implementation of several methods of multi-criteria decision-making using a web-based computer application. Such an application makes it easier to determine the effective- ness of decisions. The methods adopted in this application are SMART (Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique), AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Pro- cess), and ANP (Analytic Network Process). Each of these methods has distinctive characteristics in determining the best alternative for the user. This study assesses the feasibility of each method in the application. The application is assessed based on functionality, reliability, efficiency, and usability. (1) Functionality is tested according to the appropriateness of the decisions made, (2) Reliability is assessed using stress testing, (3) Effi- ciency is assessed according to the computational effort, and (4) System usability is tested according to the user’s answers to the Computer System Usability Questionnaire authored by J.R. Lewis. This research results in a decision support system based on SMART that has been appropriately tested and is ready for use. The Effects of Using Different Subjective Weighting Methods on Solving Multi-criteria Decision Making (MCDM) Problems

Multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) is the key to get rid from a dilemma when an individual stuck into a hard situation while selecting the best option among lots of available alternatives. Among the variety of MCDM tools that exists, some are used to determine the criteria weights while others are used to propose the best option and rank the alternatives. This paper particularly discusses about three popular subjective weighting MCDM methods namely, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Simple Multi-attribute Rating Technique (SMART) and Step-wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA). The primary objective of this research article is to compare the outcome results from three different weighting methods applied to a single MCDM problem. To meet this purpose, a real time laptop selection problem is considered and two well-known ranking tools are adopted i.e. Multi- Objective Optimization on the basis of Ratio Analysis (MOORA) and full Multiplicative form of MOORA (MULTIMOORA) to provide the preference ranking order of the alternatives. The best laptop model is chosen among 6 selected models available in the market based on 7 criteria and the relative preferences of the buyers regarding different laptop specifications are noted by interacting with some laptop users. The final results and ranking obtained by using three different criteria weights from MOORA and MULTIMOORA are exactly same and both the methods in all cases show that model 5 is the best laptop model whereas model 4 is the worst among these six available alternatives.

Developing a participative multi criteria decision making technique: a case study

Multi criteria decision making (MCDM) has become widely used to facilitate decision making. This study reports on the development and evaluation of a participative MCDM method, 'simple multi attribute rating technique for enhanced stakeholder take–up' (SMARTEST), designed for high levels of stakeholder involvement through an iterative process. In a case study of recovery from acidifying pollution of a river in Scotland, six options were evaluated against 12 criteria. Stakeholders participated fully in seven of the ten stages of the process and partially engaged in two others. The use of SMARTEST was effective in helping stakeholders gain insights into the decision making process of themselves and each other.
