Abstract

I have always been interested in Western medical acupuncture and its potential role in primary care. Patients often ask for alternative treatment options that don’t involve drugs. The British Medical Acupuncture Society course was recommended to me by a couple of colleagues, one who had already been on it and another who was planning to attend it. The aspect of acupuncture that most interested me was its use in the management of musculoskeletal pain, because I felt that there is scope for its use in primary care.
