Abstract

It is known that electrochemical polishing of various spring alloys and steels improves their fatigue strength. The majority of authors associate this with a smoothing-over of microbulges and the rounding-off of microirregularities. The condition of the surface layer deformed during heat treatment, however, affects cyclic longevity to no lesser a degree. 8 refs., 1 fig., 2 tab.
