Abstract

AbstractProton NMR spectroscopic studies on the conversion of 2,3‐erythro‐aldoses to 2,3‐threo‐aldoses in methanolic K2CO3 solution revealed the formation of the hemiacetals of the corresponding aldehydes, which probably provided the driving force of the easy epimerization.
