Abstract
Measurements and analyses of space-time structure of random pressure fields and associated area-averaged loads acting on prismatic building models in simulated atmospheric flows are presented. The objective of this study is three-fold: first, a broadening of our understanding of wind induced surface pressure fluctuations around buildings; second, gaining insight into the aerodynamics of prisms immersed in turbulent boundary layer flows, e.g., sensitivity of the surface pressure field to changes in the intensity of the far-field turbulence; and third, gathering knowledge-base concerning the spectral description of integral loads on buildings and their respective correlations. This paper briefly describes the salient features of this project.
