Abstract

This is a brief review of the investigations carried out by scientists from the Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute (St. Petersburg) within the framework of international projects for the study of the structure of high-spin nuclear states using heavy-ion beams and arrays of tens and hundreds of detectors for recording gamma rays and charged particles. The development and results of measurements of nuclear-level lifetime by Doppler techniques in the range 10−14–10−9 s are discussed.
