Abstract

Gas-liquid two-phase flows in shale gas well of China are characterized by unstable behaviors. In this study, we propose a new conductance wire-mesh sensor (WMS) operated in a mode of a sinusoidal excitation, and build a flow loop with multi-nozzle gas inlet to simulate the variable mass gas-liquid flow. The designed WMS is successively mounted at non-stable and stable sections along the pipe line to detect the transient flow structures. The evolution behaviors of gas-water flows are uncovered by WMS visualizations.
