Abstract

The volumetric properties of methane and ethene were determined experimentally by a Burnett apparatus at 310 K and pressures to 70 MPa and of propene at 270, 290, 310, 330, and 345 K and pressures to 3 MPa. Compression factors are calculated by fitting simultaneously the isothermal pressure series to the Burnett relation and the virial equation. Densities at integral pressures are calculated from the experimental results and compared with numbers obtained from the NBS and the IUPAC Tables.
