Abstract

The vacuum polarization corrections of the muonic 4 f → 3 d and 5 g → 4 f transitions in Bi and Pb have been measured. The over-all accuracy obtained for the vacuum polarization correction is 1%. Experiment and theory agree if higher order corrections are taken into account.
