Abstract

Thick target neutron yields produced by 345 MeV/u 238U incidence on a copper target were measured at 0°, 45°, and 90° using liquid organic scintillators and the time-of-flight method. The experimental results were compared with those calculated using the JAERI Quantum Molecular Dynamics (JQMD) model implemented in the Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System (PHITS) and the G4QMD model in GEometry ANd Tracking 4 (Geant4). The JQMD model reproduced the experimental data better than the G4QMD model at 0°.
