Abstract

Natural ventilation rate is an important parameter scaling the influence of outdoor air on in-door environment. In this study, a field measurement was conducted to understand the statis-tical distribution of natural ventilation rate in 28 residential buildings in Beijing, China. CO2 decay and nonlinear fitting methods were used. Some influential factors, including the types of window, window opening degree and main bedroom area were investigated to figure out their impact on natural ventilation rate. The results indicate that natural ventilation rate of residences in Beijing is lognormally distributed. The distribution of which μ is 0.86, σ is 0.88. This study is expected to lay a foundation for natural ventilation research in the future.
