Abstract

Current distributions in a PEM fuel cell with interdigitated flow fields were measured with the current distribution measurement gasket technique. The measurement results show that interdigitated flow field indeed improves the uniformity of current distribution in PEM fuel cells, especially when reactant gases are insufficient, which is attributed to stronger mass transfer of forced convection. Current distribution at high gas humidification temperatures demonstrates the good water removal capability of the interdigitated flow field.
